JDL LAUNCHES CANDY CRUSH TEEN SENSATION

First, JDL stands for- Josie De Leon School of Performing Arts located in Mississauga and Scarborough. You can browse on their website at JDL to find out more and
how this school give inspirations and platforms to young people who loves to sing, act and perform.

Today at Rembrandt Banquet Hall in
Markham, Toronto, JDL launches CANDY CRUSH, a new Teen Sensation the school created as it featured five promising students at their stable. One of its members is Sammy Gavin whom I've known as she started pursuing her love of music.

As I was driving to the concert venue, the rain poured heavily my mind was thinking about turning back and gave a classic excuse to Sammy's mom for not being able to attend. Two of my invited friends didn't actually made it as they decided to turn back for low driving visibility. Driving along Highway 401 is tough but I just keep going because I was also interested to see Sammy perform in a larger platform.

As I mentioned in the past, Sammy's performance at my charitable events were indications of her being a beginner. From that period of time when she performed consumed by stage fright, I wanted to know how much JDL changed her.

Of course the show has already started and guess who was making a grand entrance to the stage from the audience- Angel Lazaro. A very, very young girl with so much firepower! She actually performed I think three songs one of which was a really bold choice: Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and her movements were completely energized your eyeballs must be clear enough to follow her as she towered on stage with gusto. That's how daring this little girl you
will be amazed of her super powered confidence. And yes, JDL must have done a good job on this girl.

I was seated on the front row with Sammy's mom as soon as the curtain rises for CANDY CRUSH. It was their opening number. The girls were well- prepared, relax and sure of themselves. They dress very well too. It was then that I realized it wasn't just a simple presentation of the group to the public. This was a well prepared concert!

My eyes were fixed on Sammy Gavin's performance. This is not to say that the other members of Candy Crush are overlooked. They were all amazing. However, I cannot say more about them because I honestly doesn't know any of them except Sammy. Sammy Gavin is why I was there for and of course, in support of JDL who generally share their talents in name of charity.

I saw a new Sammy Gavin. That voice that can reach high notes without faltering is now very well emphasized as she strutted in complete collaboration with the rest of the group. Sammy's body moves were also a new thing. I didn't saw her did those moves I thought she can't do it. There are artists who will just sit on a chair or hug the mic and belt out. CANDY CRUSH  is different; they move precisely to the beat.

CANDY CRUSH is now a teen group that is expected to catch Toronto by storm. Their chemistry is right. I think JDL has done a good job at developing these young girls into something that we all can look forward to idolize when given the right exposure.

Now we know that CANDY CRUSH is totally different from those Facebook invitations to play. This is the new musical group that is emerging right in our midst. Kudos to JDL and the parents who made the right decisions to send their children to the right place of learning. There is no mistake entrusting your kids to someone named Josie De Leon and her Team at JDL.

It was a great show and it was a pleasure to be a witness to these young talented girls who took their first flight to the road of entertainment. And yes, I got a Sammy Gavin signed T-shirt in pink.
